how do I stop my nine week old puppy yelping and whining when we go to bed?

please help (again) my little German shepherd pup whines and yelps when me and my wife go to bed we do not go down to her as we know that's a bad thing to do but she still persists. So after one more sleepless night I thought I would go to the old faithful yahoo answers please help!

Leave a clock with the puppy. it needs to make the ticking sound that reminds the puppy of a heart and relaxes it. also maybe rap the clock in a soft blanket but make sure you can still hear the ticking with out trying to hard
