How do I stop folders from opening in a news window?
First, some information: I'm running Windows XP SP2. I was trying to change the icon used by "folders" by going through "folder options" -> "file types" -> "advanced" but after I changed it for "file folders" the icons didn't change so I tried it for "folders" too but it would let me edit it. I said "Oh well" and changed it back to the default.
Well, the next time I tried to open a folder, it tried to open in VLC player. I go back to folder options and see that it's at the top of the list of "actions" and there's no action for "open"... So, I make a new action for open. This works, but now, every time I open a folder, it opens in a new window which is darn annoying.
Yes, I have "open each folder in the same window" checked under "folder options" -> "general."
I've spent all evening working on it without success. I found http://windowsxp.mvps.org/samewindow.htm and tried the registry fix on that to no avail.
Help?
