So, I have this goal of getting a dirt bike, and I know it'll cost about 850 JUST for the bike, and at least 1250 including the gas, gear and training, and I have about 150 to 200 dollars. I'm not allowed to help with any odd jobs outside of our religion, but no one IN our religion needs any help. I'm a 14 year old girl, by the way.
But, on the other hand, I'm also pretty interested in BMX'ing, which is more of a "right now" goal instead of "a year down the road" goal. I know I can get an average bike for about 200, but I already kind of have a BMX bike (My brother's bike, he used it at 14, about 7 years ago. I took it to a bike shop and the guy said I was too big [I'm 5 foot 8, 130 pounds] for such a small thing. He told me to buy a new one, but I feel like he was trying to just make a few extra dollars. I want a new one so bad, but I can hardly afford it. My dad, a car technician, said it just needed new tires, tubes and chain. It totally looks like 8 year old boy bike, I don't like it). Should I spend my money on a new BMX bike for now? Or just keep my old one and buy a few new things?
Or do I not spend any money and save it for the dirt bike?
I'm honestly really interested in both. Is the bike suitable for me? (20 inch tires x 2.0, 20 inch top tube, 27 inch handlebars)
THANKS!
