How do i solve Panasonic Blu ray problems?

I have just bought the Panasonic DMP BD80 and to put it simply, I can not get the ‘component out’ to work AT ALL. No matter what I do it simply will not output video through the component out terminals. It works fine with the video out but the quality is obviously diminished. I run it through a Hitachi projector and a QED component lead and I know these are fine. I have done everything the operating instructions asks like set the ‘high clarity sound’ to off but it does not work. I must be doing something wrong! I am going to be using the component video out until I can upgrade the projector but this is not for some time so I need a solution. I have been into home cinema for years and I am finally stumped with the connection of it all! Sound it stunning, but picture is a no go. Can anyone help with a CLEAR guide as to how to get the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT working?
I have tried the component out on my HD TV and i get nothing.
