how do i solve my toyota from jerking every time i turn to the left or right???!?

every time i turn my toyota highlander 2005 to the left or the right, i experience a jerking in my steering wheel. is this a defect of this car? or is it just me. any suggestions on how to fix it? ( please dont say that this isn't a problem because this problem only happened recently)
