I set the timing by ear and got it running ok, but havent used a timing light since high school and forgot. The timing now is a little too far advanced because i'm getting backfires through the carb at times. some gearhead please walk me through it
huck the timing light to the battery and the number 1 spark plug wire and when the engine is warm un plug the vacuum advance hose on the distributor and let it hang then turn the distributor to the degree its suppose to be at. if you don't know were to set it call auto zone or the shop of your choice and ask them.
