How do I set my photos as my wallpaper on a MyTouch phone without cropping the photo?

I have a G3 My touch phone by t-mobile. Its a great phone but I want to set a wallpaper by using photos from pictures I sent to my phone or that ive taken or from the web. But every time i go to the picture and hit set as wallpaper it automatically takes me to crop my picture. When I crop it it then becomes very pixelated and the picture is huge its terrible. I just want to set the picture as a wall paper to be clear and the size to fit on the screen. How do I do so?
