How do I secure my wireless connection to the internet?

A Belkin wireless router for the internet disconnects when a second person connects up and I think it isn't secure as we don't have to use a password when a new computer is added. How do I find my options on connecting and how do I change my password? Thanks for your any answers
I have McAfee what I am asking is how can I stop people and hackers out side using my connection? Tks
