I have been told that I must be present for a meeting on Tuesday to fight for my job. I would like to write a letter to hand in with my paper work that gets presented to the labour board along with the narrative that will document the meeting minutes. Right now it's just numbers on paper and I'd like to add a personal touch. My supervisor advised me that it might be a good idea (which he wasn't suppose to!) He's be an advocate for me in the past and knows that I DO NOT want to lose my job.
Here's the deal...my attendance has been horrible over that past year. I have been diagnosed with severe depression (I haven't shared this with the company) and I have been on several medications and finally have made some progress. I feel I am on the mend and ready to tackle everything head on. I need to include in the letter that I have been under medical care for several years and I trying everything in my power to mend and get back to business. I want to keep my job more than anything. I honestly love my job and want nothing more that to be there and be a valuable asset to the team at all times.

I had a "one on one" with the head supervisor 2 months ago and shared some vague information with him. He said that he did understand and would "call off the dogs" and wanted me to show improvement which infact has happened. I missed a day recently and that is why it's come to "putting it in writing" and have this meeting.

I also discussed with my head supervisor that I have been intimidated in the past to bring any of my issues forward. The old management (just recently "walked out/fired) did things in a much different manner. My supervisor was appreciative that I brought this to his attention and thanked me for coming to him and appologized for the recent managment problems. He said that he represents the company and it was unfortunate that it had to be that way in the past.
