Ok so I was told that if I disconnect the negative battery cable from my 1997 Dodge Avenger (according to my haynes man.) for at least 10 seconds it will reset the ecm. Well I disconnected both the positive and the negative overnight, and I come back out to start my car this morning, and the check engine light is still on!!! What the hell??? AND...once I get the light reset, what is the "drive cycle" distance, or milage for the ecm to be "ready" to test? I have NJ state inspection due this week, and just changed the EGR system in it so now I have to get the light off. Please help.
