How do I reset my car's ECU?

I've changed the indicated faulty o2 sensors and now there is no error codes or lights but the car still idles pretty bump during the warming up phase. Once the car is warmed up, everything runs fine so I think perhaps the ECU is thinking that the car is still equipped with the faulty sensor and still manages the engine that way and also the car seems to be using more fuel than usual. So any ideas on how to reset the ecu without the code reader that the garages have? Would this help to solve the rough idle problem?
Opps forgot to mention the car..its a 2001 bmw 325ci
