How do I reprogram the advanced keyless entry on a 2009 Mazda 6 with pushbutton start?

There are lots of directions for Mazdas that use a key that you turn to start. They say to turn the key to the ACC position. On this car, it is possible to pop off the cover and insert a key, but you cannot turn the key once it is in. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.
