how do i remove the turn signal lever on 91 chevy silverado?

when i turn right and then straighten the wheel the lever goes back to normal, but wen i turn left and i straighten wheel it just keeps on blinking and doesnt return back. how do i remove the lever? step by step intructions would help thanx!
