How do I remove the Digital Clock on my Alltell HTC Touch Pro?

I would like to remove the big digital clock and the menu on my home screen so it will just show my background. How do I do this, please someone help me!
There is no trash can, and when I hold the clock it just sits there or opens. thats it!
