How do i remove the default 'Stocks' app from the iPhone?

I could be asking a pointless question as i've found every means of doing so, fails.

Does anyone know how i can permanently delete the Stocks application from my Apple iPhone?
It is not something i'll ever use and would love to free up the space on my iPhone for another app.

Help! Thanks.
