im trying to change to fuel filter on my 1994 Buick Century Custom V6 3.1 Liter . but im not sure on how to release the fuel pressure on this...ive done my 1990 olds ninety eight and it had that tire valve like thing on the engine and thats how i did it then but this one is different...and would i have to "prime" it...if so how do i do that....thanks for all the help

if you don't know what you are doing the fuel filter is not a good place to start, replacing wrongly can cause a fire and your insurance would not cover you

Sometimes the fuel injection system will have a valve like that on a bike tire that is used to measure fuel pressure. This valve can be used to release fuel pressure by pressing down on the middle pin, but hold a rag over it as it is under pressure and can spray quite far (into your eyes if you are not careful).

I am not sure what type of filter your car takes, but it is likely an "in-line" filter and may be held in place by quick release fittings. you may need a special tool to slide into the fitting to release it. Cheap tools for this can be found at any auto parts store.

Good luck
