How do i refill my att go phone online? 10 points!?

i go to my account and where it says enter the prepaid card number, i enter the numbers that i scratched off, and there are 12 numbers. but it says it must be 10 or 13 numbers. and so im forced to call att and refill my phone, which charges me $5. which is bullshit. So how do i properly refill my account online? or who do i call to complain? i called and when i type in my number, it makes me go to the go phone menu, and i cant get to a live person.
