How do I reduce irritation after shaving?

I use the Gillette foam and Gillette razor to shave, and afterwards I get some irritation on my cheecks and neck. The Gillette cream is medicated, so I am not sure why I am still getting irritation.

Anyone have any tips to eliminate or even reduce razor irritation?
