How do I quit my restaurant job?

I'm a hostess at Applebee's and I've been working here since June 2007. I loved working at first but lately it's been sucky and I really don't want to be at a job where I don't feel uncomfortable.

How do I quit? I'm taking a lot of classes and can say I need to focus on school but in paper or in person? Has anyone worked in a restaurant before?

Would I have to sign any papers? My friend became a keyholder and he makes the schedules so I can always just tell him to take me off.
 
Just wait until it gets really busy and then you say "Peace" and walk out. That's what I did, and it was really funny. I even took a poop on the front stoop on my way out.
 
I have worked in restaurants all of my life and, i have noticed that their employee turnover is incredible! I wouldn't stress it so much. If you are uncomfortable, tell your boss. Give Him/Her your 2 week notice and get out of there! I'm sure they won't have trouble finding a replacement hostess. Just don't walk away from it though because when you go to get another job, it will look bad on you. Good luck!
 
Give them a 2 weeks notice. Don't leave just like that. It'll look way better that u left on good terms by giving them a 2 weeks notice. R u going 2 look 4 another job? I've had fast food experience 4 the past 2 years and i tried leaving my job by giving them a 2 weeks notice but then my boss told me 2 reconsider and i stayed. I stayed and i got laid off. I'm in school too and I think it's important 2 work and go 2 school at the same time just 2 make a living and get what u want. Hopefully everything works out well 4 u!
