How do I play audio from different sources through the Panasonic SC-BT330 system?

You have to connect audio cables ( optical or red & white cables ) directly from your sources to Panasonic system for audio.

The system is connected via HDMI cable to a 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p TV. The TV is connected via component cables to a Xbox 360, a HP laptop via HDMI, and a HD cable DVR via HDMI. The system has excellent video and audio when playing DVDs or Blu-Rays, but I cannot get it to play audio from other sources attached to the TV that use other inputs. The TV does sense the Blu-Ray receiver, as every time I turn the receiver on, regardless of what input the TV is set to, the TV switches off its own speakers and thinks it's playing audio through the BT330. But there's no sound. I've changed the settings on the receiver to ARC and to digital input, but no luck. In the manual, it says I need an optical audo cable to connect to play other audio, but I thought the whole point of HDMI cables is to have one cable for audio and visual inputs. Please help.
