I have begun running about 3 miles a day and doing regular excersizes, but i hear that half of the preparation should me mental. Any suggestions?

Practice exercising on about 2 hours of sleep per night. Practice eating a meal in 90 seconds. Practice taking your ASVAB on 1 hours sleep. Choose 2-3 people to call when they give you phone time. Say hi, talk about them, don't talk about what you are doing. Also practice memorization. Memorize your local government, Commissioner, District Attorney, Mayor, City Manager, Sheriff, Constable, Treasurer, etc. You'll have to memorize lots of names and ranks when you get there. If you get in the habit of doing that now it will make it a lot easier when you are having boots thrown at you for not having you lock box in order at 2am with 4 NCO's yelling through your skull.

I left military.com after a few years because of their asinine policy of not allowing links from outside the website...Monster owns the web site.....
but
http://www.military.com
does have some good nuts and bolts boot camp tips....
like
what to bring ...what not to bring.
what to do/not do etc etc
Maybe a few of the rote memory things that you might want to start commiting to memory right now...
save you a little stress....
practical stuff....

I was going to enlist in the Marines november of 07, and i asked others the same question, and they all said that there really isnt anything you can do to prepare besides being in decent shape. they will break you down and build you up to their specifications.

get used to being chewed out.

the best thing to do is keep this in your head

"yes sir,no sir , ALWAYS DO WHAT THEY TELL YOU!"

Just remember it is all a head game, play along and don't take anything personally.

Good luck, enjoy the psychotic service.
