how do i manually release the hood on a 91 toyota mr2?

have a little bit of a problem here. I had lost the key to my MR2. id been getting inside it by sticking a clotheshanger in and pressing the unlock button on the door. well the battery was going dead, so i took the battery out, locked the doors, and put it on a charger in my apartment. Now i cant get inside because theres no battery to unlock the doors with the button, no way to put the battery in because i need to be inside to pop the hood release.

My question is, how do i manually release the front hood so i can access the battery leads?
 
The only way I can think of without using a slim jim, but you could try getting to the hood release mechanism from the bot ton/underneath the front of car with a wire hanger.
