how do i make music or photo disks on windows vista?

normally i just copy and past the files onto the blank disc then ask it to write the files to the cd. with the music its usually windows media player that writes the files for me but when i tried that it said "connect a burner and restart the player.

there's no blank disc for me to copy the files to and when i click the burn button at the top it doesn't do anything
but the blank disc ISNT popping up
