How do i make green numbers go away on HTC Aria..?

I have an HTC Aria & i linked some of my contacts to their facebook. Every time i click my contacts a little green number shows up by their picture to show that they updated their facebook. When i click the name to make it go away, they never go away. How do i make those go away?
