How do I make a fake, usable, leg for dancing?

I'm doing a dance (waltz) to a song, and one character in the song has three legs. How could I make a leg that my partner can use? Cuz I need to make sure that its not to hard so that it doesn't jam into her, but also that its sturdy enough that she can kinda lean on it as she dances around.
 
I would say use part of a crutch from a pair of crutches. I have no clue if this would work but you could attach it to a belt and she could wear the belt under her costume. Or maybe hold the top of the crutch against her waist and use a thin bungee cord or something of that sort. It could go around her waste and through the hole under the armpit part of the crutch. Again, I really don't know if that would work, but I hope it helps!!!
