How do i make a container garden box?

I would like it to be 5ft long x 2 feet wide. My q is, how deep does it need to be? I would like to plant tomatoes, herbs, carrots, peppers, onions, and possibly potatoes.
I am looking for small carrots. I am mostly concered about the depth when it comes to potatoes.
