How do I know if the soap residue is gone so that I can place the fish back in the tank?

OK first of all nobody scream at me, these things aren't mine and I felt bad they appeared to be in distress

The water was filthy and filled with algae, the fish had lost many scales I feared the worst ick...

Anyways there are two goldfish decent size

I boiled their rocks and shit plus the little submerged tree

I scrubbed the inside of the tank with dish soap (yes I know!) and hot water

I took precautions in cleaning the soap residue by first filling the entire tank with hot water

Then I emptied that and then used the spray which also had hot water

I sprayed the container evey multiple times

Now I have the water siting with some ick stuff in the tank, I did calculate the volume of the tank, roughly 8 gallons so I put in like 3/4 of the pellet

If I was to put the fish in there within twelve hours, will they live?
