i just noticed that my 6 month old indoor kitty has a wound on her neck. she keeps scratching it and the fur around it is coming off, and it's obviously making the wound worse. i cleaned the wound with warm water and mild hand soap, and applied a small amount of antibiotic cream. is there anything i can do to keep her from scratching it? a makeshift cone, wrapped in gauze, etc?
please don't start yelling that i need to take her to the vet, because i already know this. i live in a very rural area and there are no emergency vets. the soonest i can take her to a vet is tomorrow afternoon. until then, i need some suggestions.

i don't have a neck cone and it is -20 degrees out tonight, i'm not venturing forth to buy one. is there a way to make one?
