My mother has a packard bell laptop and recently it just broke, windows doesn't work, even after trying to re-install windows, we took it to Curry's for someone to take a look at, he told us that it was just the software so installing Ubuntu from a CD should work fine.
I burned Ubuntu (.iso) onto a CD using my laptop, put it in hers, pressed F8 until the boot menu came up, selected CD and it just went to a page asking to run the start-up repair or start windows normally, neither work so we want to use Ubuntu instead. Any help would be very appreciated.
Okay, so I've got the disc working! YAY! But now it won't boot too well, it's just taking forever. It's constantly loading on the loading page (Ubuntu with 5 flashing white and orange lights below).
