How do I install a new oil tank on my 1991 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 hugger?

How do I install a new oil tank on my 1991 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 hugger? I purchased a chrome oil tank to replace my stock oil tank. The stock oil tank had to be replaced due to a crack where it leaks some oil (i had a little wipe out on the bike). One problem I've had is the seat doesn't want to come off the bike. Does anyone know how to put one of these on?
