how do i hook up my xbox 360 to live?my computer is downstairs and the xbox is up.?

the xbox is upstairs and the computer is downstairs.the ethernet cable doesnt reach the computer. i dont even know what to do or what everything is. someone please help me please....is there anything i have to buy???
