How do I go about getting/installing a new stereo system?

I just got an 03 Honda Element and the stereo is broken as far as I know. It takes CDs and won't give them back. lol But anyway, I have no idea where to get a car stereo or who to go to to it installed. Where can I get one? How much do they cost? Could I install it myself easy enough?
 
You can install it yourself easily enough. when you pickone out at the store, make sure you get a wiring harness for the make and model of your car. These eliminate the tedious process of splicing wires. Size up the new stereo to the size of the hole in the dash, and see if you need a bracket or filler.
