It is a 20 gallon tank and there are 9 fish in it. 6 tiger barbs and 3 large danios. It is very difficult to tell when the gravel is getting real dirty because of the colors that it is. I do regular cleanings but that doesnt matter. My question is how can I safely take out the gravel and put new in. I'm not extremely worried about the bacteria in the gravel because there is a good amount built up within the filter. Would it be a good idea to take the fish out and put them in my hospital tank for the short period of time it takes me to switch the gravel? I'm not going to drain the tank just take the gravel out and put new in.
