How do I get Xat Chat to work?

Every time I want to get in a Xat Chat chatroom, it can't establish a connection. It can't even connect with the website. I've tried going to xat on Internet Explorer, and Safari. Still, nothing. When I go to a xat chatroom, it can only pick up what people said before I got there. What's going on here? How can I get xat chat and the website to work for me? Please Answer.
