how do i get wifi on my samsung flight -a797?

i have heard of iphone and android phones that can connect to wifi networks how can i get my samsung flight to do this? it is the red one the one that came out in 2009 and is there anything else i should know like should i get some sort of different phone browser so i dont have to have at&t know by using their client and they find out?
