How do I get the NO EVENTS to say some kind of event on SAMSUNG SOLSTICE?

I drag it out of the widget and it says NO EVENTS. I'd like it to say some kind of event. I put things on my calendar but it never pops up or says anything except "no events".

Sorry if this doesn't exactly make sense.
