How do i get the light to be extra bright with my photography lamp on the A350?

I have a problem. i might just be an idiot at the moment but my camera the sony a350 dims when i have my photography lamps on.
Whats happening and how can i resolve it?

I mean that i have a seperate lamp and when i use it with my camera my camera light itself dimms down so its really dark even though the bulb in my lamp is 1000watt ? thank you for replying
 
Ok, press the Fn button on the back and move up to the area
-3..2..1..0..1..2..3+ hit the select center button and move the pointer up to +1 or +2
Give that a go see how it works.
