how do i get rid of this little white box in hammer(garry"s mod map editor)?

I use the vertex tool a ton but i keep having this little white box pop up and after that the vertex tool is no longer usable as it breaks! i can reshape the box but i can not delete it, cut it or resume shaping my other shape. how do i get rid of it? after the box appears i have to restart any map i was making.
