How do I get my Toshiba Satellite laptop and Nokia N86 phone to communicate via

Bluetooth? The phone works with other phones and so does my pc, but they won't work with each other. The phone and the pc have been to the places of purchase, but the staff couldn't do anything. I don't know anything about Bluetooth other than clicking "send via Bluetooth" and "accept" LOL. . .do I need some kind of software or something?
