How do I get my Sony Ericsson to not make sound when I turn it on?

Whenever I turn it on or off, my Sony Ericsson makes a really loud, obnoxious sound. I'd prefer to not have to listen to it every time I turn my phone on or off for the rest of the time that I have it. I've looked through every menu I can on the phone, through the Settings folder, and there's nothing that says anything for the sound when I turn it on or off. Any suggestions?
