How do I get my military ID if I do not have my documents?

Hello,

Your husband would have entered your name in to the DEERS System when he was having his own I.D. Card made. DEERS stands for "Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System."

When you speak with him you should ask him if he had you properly "enrolled" into the military's computer so that the military world-wide knows that you are eligible to receive military benefits.

I think that you would only need your Driver's License and maybe another piece of identification for you to go to a military base and get your I.D. card. Ask then what I.D. you need to bring to get your photo taken for the I.D. card.

Call the military base you are going to go to first and ask for the "Pass and I.D. Section" that makes the I.D. Cards. Then, give them your name and social security number and ask if your husband has properly registered you into the DEERS system.

Speak the word: DEERS so that you and them are on the same terminology.

Best wishes and have a great military career.

My husband just left for basic training and his recruiter told him he needed to take all my original documents with him to the Reception (my birth cert, marriage cert, and social security card). When I go to a military base to get my military ID, will I need those originals? Or will they take copies that I made?
