How do I get my media state to not be diconnected?

I work from home on a Dell Latitude. I have been using this computer for several months with no problems. Recently I have been unable to work. I log in to my work site and it days DNS Error. I called my IT support at work and my internet provider. Both said it was not a problem on there end. I pinged my computer and it says Media State......Media disconnected. How do I get it back to where I can work again.
