We had some remodeling done and the contractor left one of my electrical outlet boxes recessed in the drywall an inch or two. So when you put a cover plate on it, all you see is 2 dark holes and you have to stick the cords in an inch or more to get it in the socket. I asked him to come back and fix it, but its been a few months and he said no, just get a longer screw to pull it out more. I have no idea if he's BS-ing me, or what. But anyway what I've done is took off the face plate, loosend the screws that hold the electrical outlet to its blue box so that the outlets themselves are now loose and can come to be flush with the dry wall. Then I put the face plate back on, but now the only thing supporting the sockets is the one screw in the middle of the plastic face plate. And everytime I try to plug something in the face plate cracks a little in the middle from the pressure. What is the REAL way to fix it???
