How do I get my distortion pedal to sounds better with my amp?

Hey! I have a Line 6 Spider III 75 Watt amp and a Digitech Death Metal Distortion pedal. And when I hooked the pedal to my amp, it sounds a bit like ass. And, when I hooked it up to my Marshall 10 Watt practice amp, it sounded so much better. Is there anyway to fix this problem? I kept my Line 6 on the clean channel before I hooked the pedal up, if that helps.

And please don't say "Get a new amp Line 6 Spider's suxx!!" or other stupid answers. Please help me.
