How do I get mp3s to play on my Samsung A950 cellphone?

I cannot get mp3s to play on my Samsung a950. Verizon says to insert a blank micro SD and press the play button. This process should automatically create My_Mp3s folder. However, my my phone does not create this folder and when I manually create a My_Mp3s folder, the phone says there are no songs. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks
