I wish people here would give walking/biking a chance. I live outside of Houston in NW Harris County not so far from Jersey Village.
Every day, I see tons and tons of cars on the roads, accompanied with lots of traffic snarls, exhaust fumes, litter, bigger cars and bigger trucks, and it all gets pretty tiring and distressing.
I rarely ever, like ever, see bikers or walkers out where I live. There's practically no sidewalks, no bike lanes, or no Metro for people to use. It's just either car or nothing.
So is there any way I can get more Houstonians, especially fellow suburbanites, to walk/bike to places together? Encourage them to take the better method of commuting?
I get pretty lonely biking alone, and I hate it when people honk at me for driving very close to right side of the curb, trying my best to get out of their way. Or stepping over litter and dodging ditches when I walk.
I want us to band together, to just give walking or biking a try. At least for a day.
