I am a single mother of 2 and I am looking to rent a 2 bedroom apartment in the East Valley of Phoenix. I was searching on the internet and found that low-income families can rent subsidized apartments and they also gave me a list of places. Do I have to apply to for Section 8 to rent or will the apartment complex let me rent based on my income?

Call, e-mail or make the investment of time to contact the local Housing Authority. Ask them to send you a "Tenant's Package."

Read the material. Follow the directions.

Complete the necessary forms.

You should be given an appointment for an interview. Make a list of ALL the iQs you would like to havre answered, which aren't covered in the package. At the interview ask about finding your own housing.

THEN you should be eligible to be placed on the Section 8 waiting list.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!
