How do I get butter stains off of my backpack?

I bought a new backpack at the mall in Zumiez, and then went to see a movie. My idiot friend bought some popcorn for him and everyone else who was there, but overdid it on the extra butter. So when I held it, it dripped on me. A spot on my pants, and somehow, onto my backpack. There are only 2 spots on my backpack. They aren't too big, one of them has a diameter of about 3 centimeters and the other is about 4 or 5 centimeters, and then spread from top to bottom about three-quarters of an inch, and one inch. Please help!

Also, I thought it was impossible to take the stain off, so I just tried to cover the smell using some cologne from Abercrombie & Fitch, whichI realize is a bad idea.... just letting you know.
