how do I get a discount on the Motorola Droid if I am on an existing Verizon contract...

...not eligible for upgrade? I want to buy a Motorola Droid but I am not due for an upgrade for several months. If someone signs a new contract they can get the Droid for $199 after rebate but I was told I would have to pay $569! how do I get them to give me an upgrade early? The phone is offered for $299 - $100 for a new customer, I would even pay $299 for it if I have to but certainly not $569, any suggestions?
 
If you are the primary line and have a plan of 59.99 or higher you can upgrade after a year. You can also start another line for 9.99/month switch phones and let it run out the contract so you can get the discount.
 
You can call customer service and ask for an "early upgrade exception" which they basically just search out your criteria in their computer system. You might be able to get one early. But honestly, verizon is not one for being lenient with early upgrades. It costs the company money because whatever discounts you got on your last phone usually take the full two years for the company to recoup thru your monthly service.
