recently my boyfriend made an oil painting of me and gave it to me for christmas. it is similar to a chuck close in the fact that it is a grid painting and each square is unique and the eye blends each color in the square to look the way it should be. the only problem is he did it on paper and i dont know how to go about framing it. all the instructions i have seen are for canvas and to save money i would really like to do it myself. does anyone know how to go about this???

I am a pastel artist and always use paper. Watercolor artists tend to use paper as well. These are usually framed under glass. I can't be positive about oil, because it's normally painted on non-paper, such as canvas or wood. However, since it is on paper, I would suggest that you frame it with a glass covering, like I do with my pastel paintings. It will protect the paper from the normal damage of time.
